If rustic isn't your thing,...look away!

Do you remember my trip to McCall, Idaho I spoke of in a recent post? On that particular visit my brother and sister~in~law gave me this ammunition wood crate, complete with compartments. It was love at first sight for sure. My sister said," I want you to have it, I know you'll do something wonderful with it". I was tickled pink, but felt a little pressure to make it wonderful. I have been having visions ever since, finding the time has been a challenge to say the least. Finally there was a 3 hr. break in my world, and I got to work.

The idea to have a side table/ storage unit in the living room kept flooding my mind. The first thing was to remove the hinges and hardware, then sand each pc.. From there choosing the right color became the next stage of fun. I decided on the creamy yellow, called strawflower. You can find it at Home Depot, Rustolem Painter's Touch 2x the coverage... I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!!! Then I sanded lightly to raise the wood grain. I apologize that the next step got left out of the picture line up. But, the all important glazing process was up next. I love the color Burl, by Martha Stewart, just order your color and mix your own glaze to it. The instructions are on every glaze can. And there she is. I decided that not only was it a beautiful rustic end table, but it now stores various materials a crafter needs on hand. I love dual~ purpose pieces.

Hope you enjoy these pictures. A huge thank you to Don and Chris Lott, our very dear and loving family, we all miss you so much.
